Wemade (CEO Jang Hyun-guk) announced on the 5th that it will establish a research center related to Zero-Knowledge Proof with renowned academic figures led by Oh Hyun-ok, a professor of information systems at Hanyang University, to expand the ecosystem to Ethereum Layer 2.
Wemade previously announced its entry into Ethereum Layer 2 through G-Star in November. Layer 2 solutions leave transaction execution to Layer 2, and Ethereum Mainnet (Layer 1) is in charge of only agreement and security to increase processing speed and solve the scalability problem of the mainnet.
The roll-up-based Ethereum layer 2 market is currently the most notable market in the world, and as Ethereum evolves into a modular blockchain, it is expected to be the core of the executives that digest Ethereum’s transactions. WeMade plans to further expand the WeMix ecosystem by entering Ethereum Layer 2, which uses WeMix Coin as a governance token.
Specifically, it announced a roadmap to implement and apply a complete ZK rollup by the end of 2025, after taking its first step in the Ethereum Layer 2 ecosystem by securing technical differentiation in a hybrid method that combines knowledge proof technology based on a highly versatile optimistic rollup in the first half of 2023.
As part of this roadmap, Wemade will operate the ZK Research Center in collaboration with major academic figures related to knowledge certification.
